Rcrclbl - a new way of releasing music in the digital age?
Audio Visual performance @ circa in Toronto next Tuesday
I'm performing at points in the Kid Robot room and then the Mirror Ball room @ Toronto's super-huge Circa nightclub next Tuesday - thats April 29th 08. The gig is going to be a free party to celebrate the summer, plus Toronto's burgeoning 'Camp' scene - events that bring people together to share and learn from each other (such as DemoCamp, CaseCamp etc...).
Here's the deal:
CaseCamp along with its sponsors transform CiRCA into ground zero for Toronto's creative communities: art, design, communications, technology, media, social change and entrepreneurship.
DJs, interactive art, and the closest friends you haven't met celebrating their passion for participatory culture, creative practice and society.
Book off your Wednesday morning and celebrate with Toronto's emerging creative leaders who are remaking the city. Check out the links to just some of the feeder events and groups below!

Finally a use for my old dell laptop
I just came accross a super cool use for a Nintendo Wii remote - generating interactive live 'sacred geometry' - all the software's available and seems pretty straight-forward to get going with, hopefully I can find time to check it out and report back soon - more info on Signal Flow:

Check this y'all - a piece by Paul Slocum that recreates a scene from Full House with different people and mashes it together...
Dishoom - my monthly gig is happening in a couple weeks
Alright y'all - I have a bunch of new visuals from my recent trip to India and I'm excited to bust em out alongside some kick ass new tracks I've found (plus a bunch of random stuff as usual)...
The time is march 14th and the place is Dishoom - my monthly gig in Toronto! Its going down from 930 and will run until 3am... Come early (before 11pm) for free entrance, after that its just 10 bucks and we have a couple other acts.

Mounting a digital projector - DIY only?
For a little while know, I've been looking around for options to support a digital projector when VJing... we've all been in situations where you've borrowed someone's expensive projector and then are cringign th whoel night of a performance because its propped precariously on a barstool, on a chair, sitting on a wobbly table :) Okay may its just me thats careless but hey, I'm trying to not be that guy any more okay? :) Ha.
Anyway - it seems that there are hardly any store-bought options for VJs looking to support their projectors in a multitude of ways - I mean, just putting on a stand isn't enough when you have space constraints in booths and/or need to attach the projector to a pipe or ledge...
It seems that the best way to do this is just to spend some bucks and time in the garage - Momo the Monster's got a great video to get you started over at VJ Kung Fu... for others just looking for a simple and easy store-bought solution I'm afraid all I can find is a stand like the one pictured above...
If you have other options - post a comment here...
Dishoom with Abdul Smooth, Anuj Rastogi and Patrick Dinnen
Hey people, its been on hiatus for far too long, but my *monthly* party called Dishoom is going down in Toronto next Thursday! Yeah baby this time I'm going to be handling the decks and projection - a multimedia shindig indeed! Video and audio clips will be posted here before I take off to India next Sunday for the Indian Electronica Festivals in Delhi and Mumbai - more on that later.
Here's the Dishoom flyer:
New site almost ready!
I'm in the process of updating my website - which means I basically deleted everything that comprised the old one!
This new site will soon have a bunch of old mixes I've done plus a new podcast series, asides from the one I host over @ indianelectronica.com - with an eclectic assortment of tunes to get you nodding your head and shaking your rump as you cruise through the streets busting beats on your badass iPod! :)
I'm also going to be working on getting some new VJ cuts of mine edited and online this weekend!
Stay tuned folks... good stuff to come...
